Today our Street Cleansing Team had the pleasure of Councillor Nicky Purse joining them on their rounds along with Stella our Environmental Services Operational Manager.
Earlier this year Harlow Council installed 134 new bins around Harlow including 6 solar-powered bins.
The solar-powered bins are no ordinary bins; they don’t only compact the litter so they don’t need emptying as often, they email us when they’re full, and even sprinkle a little “thank you” when you put rubbish in!
And wait for it… they also have internal fire extinguishers to zap any blazing debris!
With these new bins and some the changes to our working practices, we are working hard to tackle litter in the town and helping restore pride around our town.
